Why this site exists
When most people move, they know they need to update their driver's license and maybe forward their mail. What they often don't know: that California's DMV deadline is 10 days (not 30), that updating their address with the IRS is a separate action from updating the SSA, or that their Medicare Advantage plan requires an independent update that their SSA record change won't cover.
Existing resources on this topic are fragmented. Moving company blogs list address changes as an afterthought between packing tips. Government agency websites explain their own process but don't connect the broader picture. No single resource had mapped the entire procedural landscape โ what needs to happen, in what order, with what deadlines, and with what consequences for getting it wrong.
AddressChangeGuide was built to be that resource.
Our editorial approach
Every page on this site is built around a specific, answerable question that real people search for. We do not publish generic lifestyle content about moving. We publish procedural guides โ the kind that tell you exactly which form to file, exactly where to file it, and exactly what happens if you don't.
Our content standards:
- Accuracy over volume. We would rather have 50 well-researched, accurate pages than 200 padded ones. Every deadline, fee, and procedural detail is sourced from official agency documentation.
- Timeliness. Government procedures change. We review and update content when laws, fees, or processes change. Our pages display the year they were last verified.
- Honest scope. We are an informational resource, not a legal or financial advisor. Every page carries a clear disclaimer, and we direct readers to official government sources for authoritative guidance.
- No affiliate links or sponsored content. This site is supported by Google AdSense advertising. We do not receive compensation to recommend any specific service, product, or agency.

Accuracy and limitations
All content reflects requirements as of the date noted on each page. Government procedures, deadlines, and fees change periodically. We make reasonable efforts to keep content current, but we encourage readers to verify all information directly with the relevant official agency before acting.
This site does not provide legal, tax, financial, or professional advice of any kind. It is an informational resource intended to help people understand the landscape of address-change requirements โ not to substitute for professional guidance.
